reached out to women who followed me after a Mother’s Day giveaway and asked one simple question: “If you could have anything for Mother’s Day, what would it be?”

And surprise, surprise! The answers weren’t things, but:

Silence.
Space.
Time alone.
A break from being needed.

And doesn't that say everything? Women, especially mothers, are carrying so much — often without even realising how much they’ve been holding. So much so, that what they crave most isn’t more… It’s less.

Less noise.
Less demand.
Less pressure.

But let's be realistic, most women won’t get 24 hours alone. So instead of waiting for that moment… What if YOU created it?

Small moments.
Intentional pauses.
Tiny pockets of space in your day.

Because your nervous system doesn’t need a perfect day off. It needs consistent moments of relief.

What I didn’t realise was how disconnected I had b

What I didn’t realise was how disconnected I had become from myself. How normal it felt to override what I needed. How quickly I would dismiss my own signals if they didn’t fit into what the day required of me.

It was subtle. Less patience. Less presence. Moving through my days more on autopilot. I think that’s why so many women don’t recognise themselves in burnout. Because they’re still functioning. Still managing. Still being who everyone needs them to be.

It took time, and a lot of honest reflection, to see that just because I could keep going didn’t mean it was working. That coping isn’t the same as being okay. That holding everything together can come at the cost of losing yourself in the process.

And now, when I sit with the women I work with, I see that same pattern so clearly. Different lives, different responsibilities, but the same underlying thread. Capable. Responsible. Used to being the one who makes things work.

And quietly, often without realising it at first, running on empty.

The work we do together isn’t about turning them into someone new. It’s about helping them notice what they’ve been carrying, what they’ve been overriding, and what they’re allowed to start doing differently.

Because there is another way to live. Not a perfect one. Not a neatly balanced one. But one where you’re actually in it, not just getting through it.

Well, if you’re looking for a quick fix, sorry to say that's not how it works. You have to be willing to get a bit uncomfortable and learn to:

❤️ Set boundaries: Establish clear boundaries between work and personal life. Designate specific times for work, breaks, and relaxation. Avoid checking work emails or messages outside of work hours, and prioritize self-care activities that recharge you.

❤️ Practice self-care: You're the only one that can and will prioritize your own physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine.

❤️ Manage workload: Learn to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities when possible, and set realistic goals. Here’s the biggie... Avoid overcommitting or taking on more than you can handle.

I had to sit with this one for a while, pen in han

I had to sit with this one for a while, pen in hand, not really writing at first. Just staring at the page, noticing how quickly my mind wanted to skip ahead to fixing, planning, doing something useful with the feeling.

But the truth that kept nudging its way in was quieter than that.

I don’t actually want my old life back.

And that felt uncomfortable to admit. Because on paper, that version of me looked like she had it together. She was reliable. Efficient. The one people could count on. The one who didn’t need much, didn’t ask for much, just handled things.

But when I really slowed down and wrote it out, I could see what sat underneath it.

How much of my day was shaped by other people’s needs.
How little space there was for me, without guilt attached.
How normal it had become to override myself just to keep things running smoothly.

I invite you to sit with your journal this week as well, here are some prompts for you:

❤️ What am I currently saying yes to that leaves me feeling resentful afterwards?

❤️ If I stopped proving myself for a moment, what would I be afraid might change?

❤️ What expectations have I been carrying that were never clearly mine to begin with?

❤️ Where do I feel most like I’m “going through the motions” instead of actually being present?

❤️ What am I no longer willing to carry, even if it disappoints someone else?

❤️ What would a version of my life look like where I feel supported, not just relied on?
